This lesson should cause us to look afresh at ourselves and our beliefs, to determine if we really have saving faith, and what we believe about the Word of God, the Bible, and the God of the Bible. My Bible as does yours if you have one, begins like this??In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth? There is only one way that a human being can understand that verse, and that is to understand that approximately ten thousand years ago, God created the heavens and the earth.

Now God does not go on to explain to us how he created them, but we know that He created them as we know them today. God introduces Himself to mankind in this first verse of Genesis chapter one. He just tells us that He is, and that He created the heavens and the earth. That is all that we can take away from Genesis chapter one! Why would any of us want to create fictional stories about God creating ?something? and then allowing that something to evolve into the things that appear today? The theories concerning evolution and Darwinism and the rest of these fanciful imaginations that have been created in the finite minds of some of our ?so-called thinkers? are simply outrageous.

Plants require light to grow and people require a time of light in which to walk and work and play, and a time of darkness which assists in resting and regaining strength. Now, I could continue to show that God created His world with Godly knowledge and show that God tells us that He created all that we know, including mankind, in six twenty four hour days, and on the seventh day God rested, not because He was tired or needed to rest but to establish a routine that would benefit His creatures. For those who judge God based on what man has decided to think, rather than on what God has clearly shown us in His Word, I submit to you that an reasonable person who reads the Word of God and sees God say that each day was designated by God saying ?And the evening and the morning were the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth day?and on the seventh day God rested, again not that He needed rest but that He was leaving us the ideal schedule for work and rest.

As I said before, a true believer, who has submitted and committed his heart, mind, soul, and body to God, cannot read anything into the creation account except what God has written down. I know that you have probably heard that such and such a person who is a committed Christian, believes that God created something and then allowed nature to evolve it into our present day reality, but I say to you without reservation, that committed Christians do not, believe or say anything except what God has said. We are commanded not to add to or take away from what the Bible says to us, and the Bible says that God created everything and the Bible never mentions or even insinuates anything about evolution. The argument or disagreement about Creationism, and evolution (in whatever form), has to be made between science (scientist) and God. God is infinite, Omnipotent, Omniscience, and Omnipresent; and man is finite, limited, hindered and neither omnipotent, omniscience, or omnipresent?..so choose your team; but be very careful that you always keep the distinction between the Creator and the created. Remembering that the creature is always bound, whether he thinks he is or not, to God?s way and God?s will.

It seems to me that the longer man stays on the earth and the more light that God allows man to have the more man thinks highly of himself and less of God. Our country is in a terrible mess at this moment, first because we have left the will of God to follow after fables and second because the more foolish man becomes, the smarter he thinks he is! The problem is that we have allowed our knowledge of God to be eaten away by termites. By that I mean that we have scientist, preachers, teachers, and politicians who think they are smart enough to open God?s mind and speak for the Almighty and they have caused us to follow them rather than God. Have you ever seen termites in actions? They are a crafty and industrious group of bugs, because they work almost unnoticed until it is too late to do anything about them. You may have termites in your yard, and if you do, in all probability, you don?t even know that they are there. They begin in the ground, but their ultimate destination is somewhere in your house. The termites that damage our Bible, or at least our knowledge of it, normally begin in the Sunday school rooms, or in Bible Study groups, or in coffee clutches, but their ultimate location is in the pulpit. Does that mean that all pastors and preachers are guilty of attempting to mislead their congregations? Well?..the way so many preach it would lead you to think that it was intentional; but the problem is that they either don?t know any better or else they are heretics. I know that is a strong accusation but for those who preach anything other than Biblical truths, my accusation stands.

Just so you will know for sure what these who we call termites are preaching that is wrong; let me list a few instances. We can begin with the prime mover in error in our time and that would be the purpose of preaching. Most preaching these days has one or two definite goals, and the primary goal of most preaching is to increase the role of their particular group. The second is to keep some kind of false unity in their mixed-multitude. It is no secret to those who are awake and aware, that the majority of people who hold membership in churches today are lost people. They are people who have been voted into the church by it?s members for the wrong reason, so there is a fine line that pastors have to walk to keep from offending one of these people who have not been born again and indwelled by the Holy Spirit. There is pressure from all sides to ?save people? and make them members of our churches. This pressure is from some kind of idea that unless a preacher is bringing in new members that something is wrong. We have forgotten that Christ said in Matthew 16:18, that He would build His church. Apparently many people have grown uneasy with the time that God takes to bring people into the church so we have set up our little program to help clear the log-jam. Preachers who want to build ?their church? must provide what most people want and that is imagined security. They want to think that they are saved and children of God, without having to die to self and submit themselves to God through Christ.

I normally hear from people who say, well our church is different, our pastor reads from the Bible and he preaches such good messages. My question is what does that mean. A preacher can open the Word of God and read a couple of verses and then spend the next twenty minutes or so, basically calling God a liar. Is that good preaching? Let me tell you, it definitely is not! It is not hard to preach the Word of God and speak it to a congregation in order to make them understand that sin is hateful to God. That is, if the congregation were all truly saved people who are not looking for a sop from their preacher? You may ask, how could a pastor ever preach anything except the truth? It?s easy, they are either unenlightened or they are a heretic?.and many are heretics. A heretic is one who knows that what he is preaching is not Biblical truth, and yet for his own selfish purposes he preaches the lie anyway. The heretical preacher is one who would go along with evolution if the majority of his congregation wanted to believe evolution. He would also soft-pedal homosexuality and abortion and pornography or any other sin that his congregation wanted to embrace. Not believing a Creator God who created all things exactly as the Bible tells it, means that the person has no God except themselves. Either God is God and He is in complete control and His truth is our truth or we are little gods, like a colony of ants on a log in the middle of a raging river, and every ant in the colony thinks that he is driving the log. Men have come up with all kinds of partial truths, like Theistic evolution, Intelligent design, natural evolution and on and on; but I don?t buy into any of them because they all take away from the Genesis account. In The beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and then went on in six twenty four hour days to complete the Creation. All of these other theories about creationism are just little programs to challenge the Genesis account.

We can receive that truth of God and believe it and defend it or we can do as Eve did when the devil tried the same kind of trick on her. You probably remember that Eve?s problem came about when she decided to just talk for a moment with the devil. Once the devil had her talking, he used the same kind of technique on her that these non-believers use on us, he began to question what God had said. In verse one of Genesis chapter three, ?Has God indeed said, you shall not eat of every tree of the garden?? In the language of our day, the devil asked Eve, did God really say that you were not to eat any of the fruit of the garden? In the mind of Eve, that created a place where she felt the need to have further conversation and the devil led her to eat of the fruit of tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which is what he wanted in the first place. I?m sure that Eve could have made a good defense of why she needed to talk the devil; but we all know what transpired. That?s the reason that I am spending the time to warn us all that when ever we begin to think so little of the word of God that we need to somehow make it more understandable or to help God out just a little with His revelation to mankind, we run into great trouble. God has spoken, and not only has God spoken, but God has inspired men to write it down for us as God made sure that what they wrote was what He meant for us. So as obedient children, our task becomes taking the Word of God, the Bible, and reading it in its context and believing and standing on it just as God wrote it.

It is not our task to argue with the Scientist about evolution or to attempt to find some ?common ground? that will allow God and Science equal footing in our understanding. Our task is to know the Scriptures and to never back away from ?Thus saith the Lord?. It seems to me that what the scientific community wants is, to have more authority than God has, or at least to be equal with God. They want to prove or disprove God and His Word and Will. My question, to those who want Science to prove God, is ?How many times has science been proven wrong?? Then the question becomes ?How many times can you prove that God and His Word been wrong?? Let me hasten to say that nobody has ever proven a single thought that God inspired men to write in His Bible to be wrong! That does not mean that there has not been accusations that there are errors in the Bible; but none of them can be resolved in any way except to say that the error is not in the Bible, but in the minds of those who attempt to accuse it. What about science and scientist, have they ever been proven wrong? The answer is that they have been proven wrong on numerous occasions, for instance, Science originally believed that the earth was square, and years later discovered that is round. The scientist community believe once that the earth was the center of the universe, and now knows better. We are engaged in a political-scientific error about the earths temperature, Some scientist want to believe that the earth is warming and will be destroyed by that warming, but we have had one of the worst winters in a long time. We see the fallacy of science almost daily as we hear from them that coffee is good for you and the next day, coffee is bad for you. One day we hear that eggs are bad for our health and the next day we are encouraged to eat eggs. Science is man-made, man-controlled, and man-justified, and is changeable day to day. God is absolute and His truths are absolute, and will never change regardless of how we attempt to change, devalue, or challenge them, they remain, ?settled in heaven? (Psalms 119:89).

Science and Scientist would for the most part have us believe that because man is an evolving species, that man has over the past ages, become better and better; but that is obviously not true. If we are honest with ourselves and we are awake and aware, we have to see that judging from man?s perceived goodness, man seems to have devolved instead of evolved. It is not because of either evolution or devolution that we are in the situation that we find ourselves today, but because of sin. Sin is the corrosive element that has caused man to end up a creature that is out of control in his nature, a creature that is dark and brooding and who lashes out at the least perceived offense. Just think about our children, who grow up fighting and scratching and robbing and killing each other. Children who need their mouths washed out with soap on a daily basis, while parents steadfastly refuse to see these faults in their children.

If there had never been sin, if Adam had not sinned in the garden, there would not be sickness, disease, pain, tears and death. These are all the result of original sin and our hot pursuit of it, on a daily basis. We are like the Pharisees and the Sadducees, in the time of Jesus Christ, on the earth. We are not wise choosers. We normally choose the wrong things, the wrong way, for the wrong reason, and we refuse to hear and apply the solutions to our problems. As a result of our pursuit of sin and pleasure for a season, we have allowed the people of the devil to rob us and our children of the presence and power of Almighty God. One or two atheists got together and we gave up God in our schools, in our public places, in our communities and now in our nation. We stand guilty of God of being paper tigers, people who are people of the Word, unless it requires us to stand up and speak out.

I have defined a problem that we are faced with on a continuing basis, now we must seek an answer or a solution for the problem. We can?t look to science, or the scientist, because we know that they are not right so much of the time. The good news is that they are not our best resource??God is, in fact God is the only resource that we can count on to have the answers and the power to bring the solution to pass. Remember God said in the beginning, that He created the heavens and the earth, and all that we know. God did not order out a bill of materials from some supply house and put together the heavens and the earth, God spoke and they came into being (Psalms 33:9). What a God we have! He is the source of all power, knowledge, wisdom, glory and Grace and He created us and He desires to have fellowship with us. The only thing that we have to fear is our lack of tenacity. Begin today to stand for the things of God, stand on His Word, depend on His Grace, speak the things that God has spoken and live the life that God says His children will live. You, if you are truly saved, born again, and obedient to God, are not to be a wall-flower. God does not have any secret agents, so ?man-up? and stand on the commands, precepts and testimonies of God. Be people of the Book, the Bible!
